The q1.pieter.com page presents a QuakeWorld multiplayer launcher. We entered a player name and opened its client, but our check stayed on a loading spinner and did not confirm a playable match.

Identify QuakeWorld rather than a generic Quake release

The project page names itself QuakeWorld Multiplayer Online and credits FTE QuakeWorld. It describes an unofficial, non-commercial project. That is more specific than saying Quake runs in a tab: this launcher has a multiplayer client flow, and its identity should not be confused with the full original single-player release or a different browser port. The project page separately links to Quake II and Quake III implementations, which have not been tested through this guide.

Follow the player-name launch flow

  1. Open q1.pieter.com and find the Player name field.
  2. Enter a display name suitable for a public multiplayer service.
  3. Select Play and watch the resulting client screen.
  4. Verify an actual match and control response before assuming startup succeeded.

In our recorded check, submitting the name opened a /play client address with the chosen name in its query string. The client displayed a loading spinner. We did not establish a completed connection or basic gameplay input, so step four remains an explicit gap. The page's player counter and server display are project-provided information, not an independently measured availability guarantee.

Interpret the loading result carefully

A successfully opened landing page does not demonstrate that additional client assets or server connections completed. Equally, one inconclusive session does not prove a global outage. The directory keeps the source address available with a Load test inconclusive label, allowing a visitor to assess that limitation. We do not promise an instant launch based on the root page's response. Project deployments and browser environments can differ from the conditions in our check.

Controls and input requirements

This listing is intended as a desktop keyboard-and-mouse lead. We did not reach a match or confirm a binding table, gamepad support, touch controls or pointer-lock behavior. For that reason the guide does not borrow controls from another Quake release. Once the client loads, use its current settings and test one basic action before a longer session. MDN's Pointer Lock documentation provides browser context for mouse-look permission, but does not document this deployment's key layout.

Next steps when the client stays on a spinner

Note the exact client URL and whether the spinner changes or an error appears. Read troubleshooting for the difference between a resource load, graphics initialization and a server connection. If you want a shooter with a completed solo-start observation in this edition, read the DOOM guide. The directory can also show other source-checked shooter projects without implying that their matches have been tested.

Evidence and corrections

The launcher, name submission and client loading state were checked on October 11, 2026 in desktop Chrome. No client version number was exposed in our observation. The evidence stops before joining a playable match, and we have not measured latency, tested room size or confirmed the live player counts shown by the project. Share a current project URL and actual interaction result through About if you can improve this record.
